SCOP EXPERIENCE

The Sensory Culture and Occupational Path Erasmus+ training course; had a duration of 11 days - 10th to 20th of October.

The venue of the course was the town of Voronet, in the region of Bucovina.

The language of the course was English and there were 16 participating organizations from 14 countries

During the training course, non-formal methodologies and activities were implemented to help the participants to understand more about the importance of the multi sensory use during training for different range of ages.

Wihin this exciting Erasmus+ KA1 project, the participants faced to many challenges and non formal exercises to raise their awareness about the use of the multi-sensory tools.

Day 1

SCOP started with sun, icebreakers and energizers to warm up. All the participants talked and got to know each other.

After a delicious Romanian lunch, the organisation explained us what Erasmus+ is and explained the objectives of Mobilities for Youth Workers and Youth Pass. For some of the participants this training was the first Erasmus+ experience, so many questions came up. To finish this part of the session we all created an “International Cake” with all of the participant´s countries flag.

Afterwards, each participant made a short presentation of his/her organisations (objectives, projects, Erasmus+ experience, etc). Many common interests and expectations were found between the organizations, so that many future partnerships will be created.

To finish the session, a “Multisensory” prior knowledge test was filled by the participants to  get into the mood of the course.

We ended the day dancing :)

Day 2

On the second day, we started to test our senses, in order to discover which one is our dominant and create a multisensory map of us. It came out most of us are visual persons, but others expressed themselves better through the body and ability to hear and perceive smells.

We also started to get used to games as form of learning process. Who did say that education must be boring??

One of the games that we did before dinner, was the Secret Friend Game :)

By night, we all gathered to present our countries in front of each other. We tasted delicious food and wines from many nations, got involved into dances, watched pictures and played funny games together. Things had definitely started to get serious there…

Day 3

The third day started with an explanation about the principles of the sensory systems: NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Bander and Grinder approach) and the Multiple Intelligence.

Following the tests of the day before, we created six groups according with our dominant sense based on our Multisensory Map.

The rain did not let us go outside for the Picnic Café, so we made a “World Café” in the conference room. This methodology (new for some of the participants) allowed us to find out the connections between certain types of personality, jobs and the” Intelligence”.

At the end of the session, we designed a one sense-based learning activity and then, a representative of each sense group, presented the results of the workshop.

Karaoke night :)

Day 4

Day four started with a presentation of the different ways to evaluate the intelligence (IQ, emotional and spiritual).

Afterwards, we made groups based on one sense and we identified jobs/ businesses/ hobbies based on the senses (e.g. Perfume testers, wine taster, pottery, rubbery). Then, we chose  one of the occupations and created a contest of creative advertising of them.

In the evening we experimented the Forum Theatre. It’s a technique in which actors become audience and audience actors. Rajesh, Ornella and Gabi were the protagonist in a sketch which involved all of us, and the audience reacted changing the plot of the sketch several times in funny ways.

Day 5

The fifth day was perhaps the best day in Romania. After four days inside the hotel it finally came time for an excursion. We woke up in the morning very excited for the visit to the very famous Monastery of Moldovitca . We saw how people in Romania understand the meaning of God and we left for a big walk in a Natural Area.

Despite the difficulties,  we helped each other so everybody managed to get to the top of the mountain. Of course the photos that we took there was the evidence that something good happened there… And it happened…SNOW. After four o clock everybody was with a smile for our new God. SNOW. For more information, Find Rajesh or Dora ;)  to tell you some of the stories that happened there. We ate some delicious food, of course with polenta involved and we visited a Ceramic Making Centre.

At 8 o’clock we came back to our cozy hotel very tired, but satisfied of what we had learnt: friendship, respect, cooperation  and with new energy to continue the beautiful program.

Day 6

We started the session with a presentation about the dominant sense, the benefits of multisensory perception on learning and the process of cognition.

Thanks to Michael Moore, we found out that Finnish schools are much better than their American counterparts!

Before lunch we got an overview of the three types of multisensory environmental learning:  indoor, outdoor and virtual.

In the evening, Gabi and Lili (Liceul Moldova) became trainers and run some nice activities in order to share what they do in their jobs with blind kids.

Also, we received a visit of the headteacher of the “Petru Rares” National College, Anca Greculeac, who, along with her students, showed us some Erasmus+ Projects. The students presented a funny game created by themselves to involve all of us in a project that they had created.

We finish the day with a Sangria Party :)

Day 7

In the morning we used our creativity to set a multisensory room with different materials. The objective was to activate as many senses as possible in a limited space.

In the evening we visited the “Casa de Cultura” of Gura Humorului and we watched a documentary about Romania through the eyes of an Irish traveller.

The last activity was about exploring a Virtual Interactive Multisensory Space (Virtual Multisensory Yard)  PoMotion hard and soft.

Day 8

In groups, we designed activities and methods based on more than one sense with the goal of multisensory activation and developing multisensory perception.

After lunch, also in groups, we created  games who envolved more than one sense.

In the same day, we started to work on the outputs of the projects: a video, a brochure and this amazing blog for the readers! :)

Sangria Party 2.0

Day 9

In the morning, working in groups, we tried to find jobs based on more than one sense.

One of the groups thought about the job of Natural Guide and explained its features in front of all us, underlining how all the senses are involved in it.

After lunch, we worked on the outputs of the projects and we also created a special Multisensory gift for the youths of the “Alexandru cel Bun” College.

Day 10

We visited the “Alexandru cel Bun” College in the morning to explain the Erasmus+ training and show the youngster the opportunities of Erasmus+ Projects. The atmosphere was really nice and friendly. We offered them a multi sensory gift and we ate a delicious cake :)

In the evening we made a brain-storming of ideas to disseminate the project on our local contexts. We also worked on the outputs of the projects.

Day 11

In the morning we worked on the outputs of the projects and  in the evening, we made an evaluation meeting with all of the participants.

We received the certificates and Youth Pass of the Erasmus + training and we finally found out who our Secret Friend was.

Farewell Party :)

After dinner we present to the participants the movie, the brochure and the blog.

Bye-bye time was sad but for sure we will see each other again :)
